ABOUT US

WHO WE ARE

OUR MISSION

Together we are a community of believers. What does that mean, the word "community"? We believe that together in fellowship we grow closer to God and one another. The Bible speaks about iron sharpening iron:  we make each other stronger as we work together. We are a community of believers that is a small part of a global community that is a part of Heaven's glorious revelation of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

OUR VISION

We strive to be a church without walls. Jesus calls for us to go outside the walls to reach the lost and the broken. So, we reach in every way that we can, individually and corporately, to as many as we can, as far as we can. From birth to the fullest extent of human life, we want to be a church that serves with all our hearts and souls, faithful to our Savior, Jesus Christ.

OUR VALUES

We value the church, as she is established through the ministry of the Lord Jesus. We value the word of God, and the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We value our personal and church relationships with one another, looking to grow through fellowship, and ultimately closer to God. We look to extend grace to all of the lost and broken, and lead those with no hope to the hope of Jesus Christ.

OUR HISTORY                    OUR THEOLOGY

SMALL BEGINNINGS

  1. Started in 1910, FBCMtP began as a Sunday School held in an abandoned farm building.  In 1911, services were held in the Mont Amoena Seminary for Women (which was located on our campus).
  2. Our first worship center was completed in 1912. Services were held there until a tornado destroyed it in 1928. The site was rebuilt by 1930 and services continued there until our current location built in 1953. The 1930 location is located at the end of Lee St., where our cemetery is also located.
  3. Through the years, FBCMtP has been and continues to be a loving and giving church.  We support the Cabarrus Baptist Association, NC Baptist convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention, as well as LOTS of other mission efforts around the world.
  4. FBCMtP has been in  a Revitalization Drive since late 2017 and we have nearly tripled our attendance in that time.  God has truly blessed this wonderful congregation and we graciously await what He will bring next!

CHRISTIAN & BAPTIST

  1. Our theology is determined first and fully by the Bible, which we hold to be authoritative and specific to the life of every believer and to the church, as established by Jesus through the apostles.
  2. With the Bible as our source, our doctrines are fully based on specific teachings found within the Scriptures, as they have been expounded upon and understood by the majority of Christians throughout the life of the church.  Tradition is important, but Scripture is primary.
  3. Though Baptists are non-creedal in their establishment, it is important that believers have a formal expression of the doctrines they hold dear.  For us, this is The Baptist Faith & Message, as initially written by Herschel Hobbes in 1963, then updated by the SBC in 2000.

OUR STAFF

J. Chris Wallace

Lead Pastor

Pastor Chris came to us in October, 2017. He has a true heart for the church and its people. He fully believes in the power of God and His Word  to bring true change in the church and, through the church, to those who are living without the Savior in a world that desperately needs His forgiving love.
